    Re:Qigong- Qi or self hypnosis
    Lindsay Smith · 02/03/01 at 6:21 ET

I have studied Taijiquan & QIGONG since 1971. My main teacher & Taiji father was the late Teo Ah Keng, a senior student of Grand Master Sia Mok Tie of Singapore.
I have studied with many other Chinese masters - Chua Joo Ban, Jou Tsung Hwa, William Chen & others. In June 2000 I was Beijing & Qingdao.
A person practising Qigong is not in a trance state. Qigong may be practised prone, seated, standing & walking. The purpose of Qigong & Taiji training is to improve circulation, increase flexiblilty & build internal strength.
I also practise meditation, [as taught by Swami Satyananda in the Indian Yogic tradition.] Meditators with their eyes closed sometimes slip into a trance state when doing meditation.
I am a Hypnotherapist, Shiatsu Practitioner, Musician, Teacher of Music, Singing & Voice Production.
