Re:Meditation versus hypnosis (definition of hypnosis?)

Meditation is about values and is normative. Some define meditation as the practice and aquaintance with virtue. Meditation is also about developing concentration ie the ability to stay put (ie to hold an object in the mind)on an object without wavering or forgetting. Meditation is also about developing the ability of the subject to be in more and more control of his/her mind.
Hypnosis is seemingly the opposite of these.
In both, the ability to associate is increased. But with med. this association is linked to objects that have already a well formed power for good.
