I'm about to start a research projectvery soon trying to treat tinnitus using direct and indirect hypnotic methods. I know Milton E's metaphor about the boiler factory and have made a tape of a wide range of metaphors about not noticing taste, touch, pain, sight, smell and hearing. I'd be interested in any reports on research findings in this fierld but even anecdotes would be appreciated. Essentially I believe that there is a great deal of commonality between phantom pain and tinnus as O'Hanlon points out when dicussing Erickson working with a couple each of whom had one of these complaints.
