Before this year, I had not had the oportunity to work with a stroke patient. I am working with this patient, a 73 year old caucasion female who had a massive right hemispheric stroke last week. She is paralyzed on the left side. She has difficulty opening her eyes. She has a strong hand shake with her right hand and moves her right leg. She was mumbling sporadically until I told her a made up story about a former stroke patient with similar symptoms who gradually recovered. She began to babble more and more after that one story. If anyone has any experience with this type of patient, please contact me at RJoelSmith@AOL.com.
