Alcohol and Generalized Anxiety/Panic

I was interested in finding if anyone was aware of any research regarding alcohol abuse, especially binge drinking, and generalized anxiety or panic disorder. I am interested in possible implications for college students who binge drink. Literature searches have only yielded medical research that appeared to focus on full blown alcoholism. DSM IV classification of Alcohol-Induced Anxiety Disorder with Generalized Anxiety/Panic Attacks with onset during withdrawal is close to what I am looking for. However, withdrawal(maybe just a question of semantics)does not completly satisfy me. I am looking for what I call an "anxiety hangover". I would appreciate information from anyone who has seen this type of symptomolgy or is aware of related research. Thank you. Ian Sharp isharp@erols.com
