There's no doubt that the anonymity of cyberspace makes us project many of our own wishes, fears, and fantasies onto the "ambiguous" appearance of online others. Now, if we understood and discussed those projections - maybe even WITH those other people - we'd sure learn a lot about ourselves and the relationship with those others could be very rich and rewarding. That's one way that anonymity could lead to the "soul."

Of course, this requires a great deal of maturity on the part of everyone involved!! Not everyone is up to the task.
