Our regional mental health treatment center is using the Symptom Checklist 90 Revised and the Treatment Outcome Profile for outcome assesssment. As this is new since April 1996 we do not have post treatment comparisons yet. The Symptom Checklist (SCL90R) is used for psychiatric symptom screening as well as a pretest to treatment. The SCL90R has a home page for seeing the authors 9 dimensions and global indices. We are looking at using the raw scores (12 of) for progress and post treatment evaluation. Sixty percent of our admissions have taken it. Others are not able or refuse. The Treatment Outcome Profile (TOP) has Quality of life, Level of Functioning, Satisfaction with Services, and Symptom self-report questions. The Symptom questions are deleted in our questionare since they are from the SCL90R. In the conference book "Inside Outcomes: The National Review of Behavioral Healthcare Outcome Management Programs", 1994, the listed users used SF-36, SCL90R, Rand 35 Form, SF-36, Basis-32 and lesser mentioned instruments. "The Behavioral Healthcare Outcomes & Guidelines Summit" June 18, 1994 lists many of the same instruments. I would be interested in other SCL and TOP users experiences.
