A patient pointed me to a site which is very critical of EMDR based on the site creator's personal experience. It is at:
http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Valley/9078/beware.html
The author claims to have developed myoclonus as a result of EMDR. I've never seen anything worse than temporarily sore eyes when I've worked with people. Has anyone else seen anything like this?
The tone of the site is pretty critical, but I guess that's understandable given the circumstances. The author also divides EMDR links into "pro" and "con" sites, and lists a mildly skeptical paper that 2 students wrote in a class of mine as a "con" site.
The patient is somewhat alarmed. Any ideas as to how to handle this? Has anyone else seen this as a 'side effect'?
