In response to "father of a selective muted child", I am wondering if you could share your experience, i.e. what types of therapy, etc. have helped your daughter. Did you ever resort to medication (Prozac)? I have a 5 year old son who has been diagnosed with Selective Mutism. The Behavioral-Developmental Pediatrician who diagnosed him referred us to a psychologist for Play Therapy, and is also very anxious to start him on Prozac. My husband and I are very uneasy about this. Do you know anyone who has had success with medication? Or without it, what is the time frame for seeing progress in the child. I would appreciate any input you might have.
