Use the Standardized Norm based Treatment Outcome Profile

The Vineland Adaptive Behavior Scale measures individuals from birth to 18 years 11 months and low functioning adults (1988 Haworth Press, per Howard Cohen, page 38). Instead you will want a measurement tool that is norm based for a psychiatrict population and standardized and is brief. We have used the Treatment Outcome Profile for 2 years and it has expanded in use to all our state run facilities. The TOP has questions in 4 necessary categories consistent with outcome literature. Ask for information from Behavioral Health Concepts, 2716 Forum Blvd., Suite 4, Columbia, MO 65203, phone 1-573-446-0405, or contact Sue Buckner at bhcsue@aol.com for literature on the use of the TOP. We purchased only the Survey form for $295 unlimited use and not the software. It still is worth a literature search in Outcome journals to find other measuring tools but buy what can have comparison norms.
