Two comments: 1) if the so called doctorate program is not accredited, you have good reason to suspect your worst fear; and, 2) double check the entry requirements. If they restrict enrollment to masters level mental health professionals versus anyone with a check book you will have more useful data about what they are really all about.
Remember, anyone can say they can teach anything.
Obtain the vitae of the faculty and look into what the faculty has to offer in terms of educational background, extramural training, years of experience, membership in peer evaluation organizations, professional affiliations, etc. There are dozens of lay organizations offering certified this and that titles and promising to teach hypnotherapy, Ericksonian hypnosis [whatever that is], NLP, and whatever the latest marketable phrases are (mind-body, etc.). So, it is very good that you are gathering data. Keep it up.
