    Right you are! Being several steps removed from the prospective client, I am unaware at what stage of disease the fellow is, and am not aware of what symptoms/troubles the fellow's spouse is hoping to find relief. Having posted this question to two other listservers, what seems to be the case is that there may be some benefits: reduction of anxiety/agitation being the most cited benefit. However, what other correspondents have said is that at a certain point, the dementia patient may not be able to adequately process the verbal communication. Thanks for your thoughts.
