Not knowing what form the dementia takes makes this a bit tough to answer. I always say that I don't treat labels, just people. If the man needs help sleeping, if he needs help with anxiety, if he needs help with pain, etc., I would think that he should be evaluated for the use of hypnosis by someone who has not made a preconceived mind-set about him due to the diagnosis. If, on the other hand, she wonders if hypnosis could be used to treat the direct symptoms he might be having "from" the dementia, it might be best to say that is unlikely until more data is gathered via direct contact with the man.
