The Core!

A view of the Family and the target of Family Therapy.

The psycho-biologically necessary core is an individual giving birth to an individual. The one is born out of the other. Out of the substance of the other. Out of the essence of the other. The smallest psycho-biological unit unit is the dyad. If the two parties to the dyad interact harmoniously and in harmony with the environment, individuation of the two parties proceeds. All else is supportive, - father, sister, brother, etc. etc.. Optimal development of the dyad is favoured by such social supports. A view of the family is of a series of dyads.

An optimal family grouping includes the merging of the two biological parents into the one functionary, and the family constellation into a collaborative team. Ultimately the new individual buds off to implant in some other setting and begin the process of giving birth to its further self by giving birth to the new individual.

And so, ad infinitum, - hopefully!

The target is the blockage which has occurred in the mutual individuation of the dyad, and how to release this for its full participation in the human adventure.
