Dear Francine, I read your reply to a letter addressing the possiblity of treating panic and agoraphobia with EMDR. I am going to try EMDR, as I suffer with panic disorder that manifest into panic attacks with agoraphobia resulting from long term panic and the avoidance behavior associated with it. I had some concern regarding a statement that you made referring to panic disorder being a bio-chemical issue, or it being organic in the nature of how it is precipitated. I have a degree in psychology, and a degree in fear. My point is that there is a high incidence of co-morbidity in regard to anxiety disorders. Have you any evidence showing a correlation of childhood PTSD that manifested itself into adolescent anxiety disorders such as GAD, Panic disorder, Agoraphobia, Phobias, Separation anxiety, or any other anxiety disorder that is found in the DSM IV? I could be wrong, but I think in some cases (such as mine), un-treated childhood PTSD is the launching pad to other anxiety disorders. Thanks for any and all of your comments.

    Sincerely, Jean-Jacques Thiret jthiret@ouray.cudenver.edu
