I had written quite a time ago and was just starting EMDR. I have an excellent therapist who will use bilateral stimulation by tapping, usually on my knees but if the feels are strongest in my hands she will tap on them. I can honestly say that sessions are tough but worth all the work. I am feeling much more in control of my life and emotions as well as my past traumas are decreasing their impact on my life. I have one question: my therapist has encouraged me to cross my arms and tap lightly on my shoulders when I have strong feels or emotions caused by a trigger. This works great and I have found myself being able to relax faster and put the strong feel away until I am able to work through it in a safe place which is her office. We have also done this inher office as she is doing EMDR, she will get me to cross my arms and tap lightly. Is this a technique which is part of therapy or is it a type of relaxation?
