First the usual caution that the following are general comments and may not apply in a specific case, so you should talk to your therapist to see if they do. Sometimes, for people whose EMDR process gets derailed because of trying to drive the thing to please the therapist, that tendency can be a marvellous early EMDR target. E.g., think of an early time that you felt you had to control your feelings in order to please a significant other (e.g., Mom, Dad, whoever).
