As A past therapist and a current client I have used EMDR in my own healing. I beleive that EMDR works best for each individual client to move along at his/her own pace. For most single incident traumas, it does seems that only a few sessions are needed to assist the client to move forward. In my own healing from a complicated childhood history of abuse, there are many layers to each traumatic event. While one(to 5 or so) EMDR session might deal with the what happened, more EMDR sessions have helped with the emotional impact the abuse has left. Some of the EMDR sessions have also helped to stregthen the coping skills and resources I already pocess. Please continue talking to you therapist about your progress and let her guide you.
