autistic child, can EMDR help?

I have a 12 year old autistic son. We have been struggling with ways to help hin for years now with no real success. Is there any way that EMDR could help him, being that autism is really a nurological condition, perhaps the brain activation can help correct his problems. Anybody who has had success with EMDR with autism please let me know.
