Costs vary along several dimensions: whether you have insurance (and whether the therapist you choose accepts insurance), the part of the country you are in, the professional training of the therapist (since the more years one spends in training, as a rule, the more one charges), etc. So there is a wide range, but I think most practitioners charge between about $60 and $125 a therapy hour (usually 45 or 50 minutes) although there are exceptions even there on both ends. The cost is also affected by how many sessions are needed. People with complex childhoods full of trauma require a very lengthy treatment with many EMDR sessions. Some people get just a few sessions. Most people probably
get 15 or so. Many people find that the work is much faster than typical talk therapy, so it is therefore cheaper in the long run.
