I am going to assume you mean positive installations, rather than inductions. It isn't just a semantic fine point either, because inductions usually refer to hypnotic trance, and in EMDR, an installation is a specific and different process from a hypnotic induction. In recent years, EMDR therapists have relied more and more upon doing positive installations, or resource development (or ego strengthening) to prepare clients for trauma processing. This is especially critical for clients with complex histories of childhood trauma. Additional resource development often benefits clients who are having trouble with trauma processing. In my experience, however, ego state work to ensure consent and participation of remote parts of a self system (even when there is no DID) is critical work as well for many clients. This is not intended to be a specific recommendation for your case, about which I don't have enough information, but rather is a general comment about EMDR work, resource development and ego state therapy. There is no controlled research on either resource development or ego state therapy, and these comments are based upon clinical case reports of EMDR clinicians.
