Thanks for posting your thanks! I, too, was abused by a therapist a number of years ago. My present therapist is aware of this and we know that it can and does have an impact on the therapy relationship. Attachment is an issue for me as well, it has taken a while to build up the sense of safety and trust. As the topic of previous abuse by a therapist was put out in the beginning my present therapist and I have been able to work together on understanding my need for things to move carefully and slowly. As well, we are able to explore whether the fear of attachment comes from the abuse by the previous therapist or from earlier experiences. It isn't always clear, but, I can often recognize what it is or is not related to. I'm glad you trusted yourself enough to share something so difficult with your present therapist. Keep honouring yourself.
