Some time ago I sent you an e-mail directly about concerns I had of "attachment" to my therapist and my fears about discussing this with the therapist. You sent me a wonderful reply and said it was fine to share the reply with my therapist. You invited me to follow up with an e-mail or post to let you and others know how it went. To make a long story short, the e-mail helped me have the courage to discuss this concern and it had positive results for the work we were doing. After several months of therapy with and without emdr, I have been able to discuss my one previous experience with therapy (more than two decades ago) in which I was repeatedly sexually and emotionally abused by the therapist I was seeing at that time. I now have a better understanding of the anxiety I had about "attachment" with my current therapist. Thanks again for your e-mail to me. I especially value what emdr has brought to my own recent experiences in therapy. Despite the negative postings that appear from time to time, emdr has enabled me, not hindered my progress.
