    EMDR Trained VS Certified
    A Client · 01/11/01 at 10:49 PM ET

HI as I have been reading and searching for a therapist with EMDR traianing, I have noticed that besides being level 1 or level 2 there is a further classification of trained or certified. Can you tell me the difference? How does a therapist become Certified as opposed to trained? Is one better than the other? I have the list of EMDR trained therapist for my area from the www.EMDR.com and this list does not show a difference between the two or even which therapist hold which standing.

I have PTSD sever and DIDNOS, moderate. While I was inpatient Iwas fortunate to have one of my areas leading EMDR (certified) facilitators as my DR. The work I did with her was increadible, and very helpful. She had referred me to a therapist trained in EMDR closer to my home town, but that situation did not work out well. The EMDR I did with him was so much different, that at first I did not believe it was EMDR, even thought they both had used the finger waving methord.

In addition to the above questions, is one (certified vs trained) better for such a complex case of both PTSD and DID-NOS. Thanks ever so much. The search for a therapist is frustrating and it would help limit the search if I knew where to look, and what to look for.
