Thanks for your question. EMDR has very good outcomes (for most but not all patients). Dealing with multiple events across a number of years is more difficult than dealing with only a single event. From your post, it seems that you have experienced a number of traumatic events, some in childhood and some in adulthood. While EMDR practicioners differ some, the general practice is to deal with the earlier events first and work up to the more recent events. The research is pretty clear that a history of childhood trauma, for example, places an adult more at risk to develop PTSD from adult trauma. Thus, I would suggest that you start with the earlier material. Since this forum is not designed to provide specific advice in specific clinical situations, you might be an exception tot his general rule. In any case, discuss the matter in some detail with your therapist as part of planning your treatment.
