PLEASE contact your Therpaist and let him/her know what is happening. Yourtherapist need to adjust you treatment plan to inculd coping skill ans a safe place for times like this. Isolating now is not the best answer. EMDR is best done when the client and Therapist are working as a team, by avoiding therapy right now you are not allowing your therapist to be a part of your team. As for your ? of is this normal. I was like this for me. The sessions seemed to open up other issues and leave me feeling raw. I too tend to isolate when under stress, and before begining using EMDR with my therpaist we made a written contract. IN it I agreed that I would monitor my feelings and reactions, and call his answering machine and check in with him a day or so later. Even If I was doing OK. If I was not doing OK. I had the further option of having him call me back, and if needed seeing him again that same week. Just being able to "touch base" with him on the phone was very helpful. Later as I felt stronger in using my coping skills, I would send him e-mails between sessions, just as a way of putting some things away till I saw him again. I wish you a safe passage on this road to healing, let your Therapist be your guide, and running mate. Hang in there, it is worth it. It was for me.
