Thank you both for taking the time to respond! Although I appreciate the fact that you can't tell me whether or not EMDR would work for me, I'm sure that you will understand that I am reluctant to spend +/- $1,000 (?) on a method that might not do me any good. As I said in my original message, my fear developed out of one very turbulent flight 15 years ago. Since then, (un)conscious negative projection has caused me to be afraid of being afraid of flying. There is no particular "micro-piece" (packing my suitcase, driving to the airport, etc.) that is the "worst time": I'm afraid of the whole process, so much so that I can actually have panic attacks during the week preceding the flight(!). Does this additional information suggest that EMDR would likely work for me? If not, how can I decide if it is worth trying? By having a detailed telephone consultation (I live in Paris, France) with a therapist whom you would recommend to me? Thank you again.
