This sounds like an inexperienced therapist all right. Its not a function of EMDR. EMDR may well bring up feelings like mistrust or betrayal, and then, in the transference/countertransference field between the client and therapist, all sorts of things can fly around. It takes an experienced therapist and a solid therapeutic relationship to tease out what of it is in present time in relation to the present relationship, what is old material being pulled up by the EMDR, what is the therapist's stuff and so on.
