I wouldn't recommend that a therapist tell a client that one EMDR session will cure anything, but least of all panic disorder, which is among the hardest to treat of the anxiety disorders (second to OCD). The only time a single EMDR session makes a (nearly) complete cure in a single session is in an uncomplicated single adult-onset traumatic event with no childhoodhistory of trauma. I'd wonder whether 1) the therapist is inexperienced with EMDR or 2) the therapist said something a little different from what you heard. I know sometimes I am amazed at what my clients think I have said. I don't know which of the two it is in your case. EMDR is sometimes but not always successful at treating panic. It is most straightforward when the -panic had a traumatic origin. It also needs to be combined with cognitive behavioral treatments of panic for best results. Good luck.
