Shapiro only did one study. The rest are by other people. And again you have it partly backwards. Since the procedure has been empirically validated as a whole, there is no justification to drop the eye movements/bilateral stimulation component until and if the definitive studies are done that say they aren't necessary. As of now they are part of the empirically validated whole.
