Hi Sleeper, It was kind of you to post, and there's no need for you to apologize to me about it. I did the sorts of things you're talking about pretty successfully for about a year, but at that point resting without much actual sleep started to become a problem. Not getting any substantial REM for long periods eventually becomes a health hazard, no matter how well one rests, I think (at least that seems to have been the case with me). I continue to do the things you suggest, and they, in conjunction with meditation and my handy getting-to-sleep tool, are doing the trick. - J.W.
