As I said, I find it is the eye movements that seem to enable me to separate from all the things running around in my brain. When I just picture the thing, that in itself does not shut my brain down. Only concerted use of my eyes following a series of visualized moving targets helps me get to sleep. Again, I'm curious what if any relation this sort of eye movement may have to that used in EMDR.
