Developmental Needs Meeting Strategy is a protocol devised by Shirley Jean Schmidt. I don't think there is any research on its use and I don't think there is research on its use with dissociative clients. Any one using any protocol with dissociative clients should be well trained and experienced with dissociative disorders before attempting to use it with dissociative clients. There is no research on the use of any EMDR protocol with dissociative clients, but it is common sense that any DID treatment should be consistent with treatment guidelines from ISSD. The standard EMDR protocol is very robust, though it can be flooding for DID clients, and so shouldn't be used without appropriate cautions, including stabilization, containment, and fractionation procedures. Thanks for posting back.
