Hello. I just found this forum tonight. I was looking for information to pass along to someone I think could benefit from EMDR. I did three sessions of EMDR in 2000, and can honestly say my Fibromyalgia is gone. I was assaulted in a parking lot in Dec 1984. After years of anxiety, panic attacks and many trips to the ER (with chest pain), I developed and was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. Some time after that, I found out that Fibromyalgia can be brought on by trauma. Then it all made sense. A good friend told me about EMDR and encouraged me to try it. I am so happy that I was open to the idea. I could tell changes in my body after the first visit. I wrote the therapist a few months afterwards and told her how well I was feeling. A local TV news channel did a health segment on EMDR and I did an interview for them. I have loaned Francine Shapiro's book out many times. It's the most I have ever hi-lited a book ! I am 42 years old, and experienced infertility since being married in 1985 (just 4 months after the assault) I now have a healthy, happy 10 month old girl and I believe she's the result of now having a healthy mind and body. I no longer have PSTD or Fibromyalgia. Some day, I will write to Francine Shapiro and share the details of my story. More people need to know that this is available and an option worth exploring.
