yes, even PTSD is construed as a dissociative condition in some circles. And disowning feelings or memories is rife and part of the human condition, so I agree with you there. The folks that are more at risk from doing EMDR trauma work are the folks that meet criteria for DID. EMDR actually works very well with most others. EMDR is associative, so naturally, it cures dissociative features. When the dissociation is mild to moderate, the standard protocol works just grand, and there is no need to use a modified procedure unless ego strengthening is needed via RDI.
