As a "person who was screwed up in the head by these fanatics", I wonder if anything will get me "unscrewed". My personal experience: EMDR brought it to light, i.e., now I know. Whether I believe, that comes and goes, whether I'm so called "normal" that's yet to be seen, am I glad to have undergone EMDR for the ritual abuse aspects, that too, comes and goes. My opinion: EMDR is powerful. Whether the "client" is truly ready is another question. It's rather difficult to believe such horrid things--perhaps easier to believe one is insane or better yet, the therapist "planted" such notions in one's mind. Tricky area I do believe and appear to be living. EMDR I suppose did its job. Now, is whether I accept, believe, or deny. Without hard evidence, sometimes it is easy to not believe and just remain "screwed up", as you put it--seems appropriate. Best to your friend.
