Shawn: The “something unique”? Apparently “faith”--not truly “unique” of course, but it feels that way to those experiencing it. Reading thru all these threads (frankly mind-numbing at times) provides overwhelming evidence, especially your posts, that there’s no convincing evidence (or that there ever will be) that EMDR, specifically the eye movement/”bls” aspects, adds anything to your typical CT/CBT/Exposure. IMO, EMDR is in effect a cult; it’s fascinating to see this behavior in people who are obviously educated/intelligent/informed (unless, in the unlikely event, I’ve completely missed something). I suspect we humans are probably wired for “faith,” and that mostly it’s a positive thing, but here it seems to have really clouded a lot of professional judgment...or maybe it’s just that nobody likes admitting their baby is ugly.
