Teen Bipolar

My best friends daughter was diagnosed with Bipolar. I noted in meeting her low self esteem, lots of make up, low weight, risky behavior, inmature, self conscious and suicidal. She is in a mental hospital right now, she broke down emotionally & requested to go. she doesnt like the meds she takes, side effects, weight gain and isnt working fast enough. She is 18, so the parents are letting her have a voice in direction. However, no real potential solutions are coming their way. They cant afford $1100 per day to keep her in this hospitl.

Do you know of any treatment, treatment facilities or options? I have found out she can qualify for Medical, SSI and that is about it. Would EMDR help a biological disorder?

Her life growing up was typical and loving of young parents, but sheltered and nurtured till she went off the deep end at 16 years old. Stealing cars, from stores and drug use for no explainable reason.
