An addendum to the prior post. The method Dr Shapiro refers to that Grinder used, that is, viewing the trauma playing like a movie on a screen, is attributed earlier to Milton Erickson as an age regression technique in Erickson and Rossi (1979), according to Corydon Hammond (1990), Handbook of Hypnotic Suggestions and Metaphors. I don't know if Grinder has an earlier citation.
