Although EMDR should not be used as a memory retrieval procedure (since all human cognition is subject to sources of error and this includes thoughts that occur during EMDR), it is not unusual for people to have the impression that they have gained specific recall of traumatic events. Soemtimes people feel it just fades away and is gone. Neither response can be prevented or caused during deliberately EMDR. Rather, we just do EMDR and let the chips fall where they may.
