Dear Dr. Inobe,
Thank you for your advice regarding the therapist not using soothing words if the SUD level in the client cannot be raised sufficiently for processing. My therapist came to this conclusion himself simultaneously with my inquiry, stopped doing that, and the results were quite dramatic. I have since made good progress and believe I will continue to do so. I'm sure it is of general interest to clinicians that there is a fine balance between creating a safe, trusting environment for a traumatized client and having such a safe place that re-creating any disturbance is impossible. I encourage others to discuss this with their clients, if necessary and helpful. Thank you again.
