Ricky: I have to challenge you on two points. First of all, you CANNOT judge the merit of a study or a review or a meta-analysis on the basis of the outcome (or its conclusions). You must judge it on the basis of it procedures. If you feel there are procedural errors in the meta-analysis being discussed (or problems with meta-analysis in general) then be be specific. You can't just reject it because you don't like the conclusions. Second, I have carefully reviewed all of the relevant dismantling studies and I conclude that there is no credible evidence that eye movements or any other form of bilateral stimulation or dual attention contributes to outcome of EMDR for PTSD. I've reviewed these studies in some detail in formal publications and elsewhere on this discussion list. Thus, it seems you are wrong that it would be difficult for someone to review all the studies and come to such a conclusion. Moreover, if you feel I'm wrong or misrepresenting the results of various studies, please show this to me with specific details.
