Sure, the intangibles like therapeutic alliance, the therapist’s and client’s beliefs and expectations that the therapy is “bona fide” and will work, etc., are more predictive of the success of psychotherapy than the “theory” supposedly being utilized. Your more effective therapists understand this and use it to everyone’s benefit.
