Dear Dr. Inobe, I'm not sure, not being a trained professional in this, but I think I know why this happened in this way for me. I had a very good therapist who always steered me towards clustering the experiences and effects under common threads. I had also gained a great deal of insight into my parents and their issues and torments through years of regular talk therapy before I ever began doing the EMDR work. And the understanding and the pity I gained for my parents very much undercut the charge of the memories and flashbacks, and so made them available for easy and spontaneous processing. I still have some residual emotional stuff to work through, and some additional core rifts to heal, but this is nothing compared to what I faced before. And another gift of EMDR is that I know all the healing can be and will be done. Diane
