I apologize for my flippancy. I meant that EMDR is not a memory retrieval mechanism, if you are digging for specific facts, it's probably not the right therapy for you. I've been told, by my own therapist, that with a fragile client, with EMDR done prematurely, the best case scenario would be "nothing" happening. I'm not saying you are fragile, just pointing out there can be good reasons EMDR doesn't "work". And that it not working is very preferable to it working "too well". Or are you saying it does indeed work but not with the speed you anticipated? EMDR can shorten the overall length of treatment, but you say you have long experience with unsuccessful counseling. It is unlikely any treatment, including EMDR, would solve your difficulties in eight sessions.
