"EMDR isn't a shovel, what are you digging for?" I'm sorry... I don't remember saying anything about digging with EMDR. I said that after two sessions of EMDR the therapist used Bioenergetic breathing exercises as a means to condition the body to get in touch with "feelings." "Digging in the right yard" means that ALL previous therapy seemed to be counseling, advising me to "see" and understand things differently. As hard as I would try, I would always feel "fake" in my efforts and never gained any "awareness." For the first time I have a therapist who is addressing "blocked feelings," or blocked emotions. This translates (to me) as being out of touch with my inner-self, so that not much gets out, and not much gets in, either. All that goes on is in my head - at least most of the important "stuff." However, I came to EMDR in order to uncover memories or emotions that have been "buried" and need to be "dug up" and reprocessed. What kind of "shovel" would you recommend for this?
