I've noticed a number of times that during eye movements my therapist has changed the direction slightly, not a dramatic change, enough for me to notice. I noted this aloud during the last emdr session, made a comment and asked why, can't recall the exact reponse but my therapist said something about wanting to shift it. We were in the midst of doing the eye movements and I just said okay and we continued. Never thought anymore of it until now! Can someone tell me what that was all about? Why would the therapist change the direction of the movements? What is the purpose for doing so?
