I've heard the criticism leveled that rdi training is only available in level II training, when it might be of use to "entry level" emdr trainees. Can you tell me why it is not part of the basic training? The obvious answer would seem to be that the special populations that need rdi shouldn't be treated by newbie emdr therapists, anyway. But... since anecdotes abound regarding client destabilization after attempted emdr by therapists who have not done proper screening, well, why not teach rdi with the standard protocol? If a clinician is going to use emdr precipitously anyway, might it not be safer for the client if the clinician has been taught rdi?
