    Depends upon how you count.

EMDR is premised upon an adaptive information processing theory, which is cognitively based. EFT is based upon meridians and kinesiology; tapping upon body meridiens in a given sequence is reported to resolve some emotional disturbances rapidly.

The best way to conceptual begin to unify these two and certain other methods is by thinking in terms of energy psycholog. By this way of thinking, both methods are understood to access and release energy stored in the body that doesn't belong there. There is absolutely no research I know that supports this effort to unify the two. Speculation in this area gets fringey, so EMDR practitioners are likely to prefer to remain grounded in that which we have evidence for, namely, the use of EMDR to resolve PTSD/trauma based conditions.
