Thank you for your response. #1 particularly made a great deal of sense to me, as my attempts to use emdr in the past had failed. It is true that the very plain and boundaried situation was right in front of me, vs the times before when I attempted to work with something that seemed simple to me, but was NOT. For the record, I don't recommend anyone try this... when I failed, I was miserable, and "bleeding out" for months afterward, as you say is possible. The medical situation was one I had dealt with in therapy, to a great extent, already. Thus, it was probably "ideal" for trying emdr on. Thanks for making that clear to me... I just couldn't understand why it worked "all of the sudden".
